MATT GREER

Matt is currently a teacher at Pontiac High School. In 2019, Greer joined the PHS staff after working at D’Arcy McGee High School as a teacher and athletic director since 2010. Greer attended PHS from 1998-2003 and during this time, he played varsity soccer, basketball and volleyball. In his final year at PHS, Greer helped coach the junior girls basketball team who went on to win the regional championship. After graduating, Greer played men’s basketball for Heritage College. In 2006, Matt began his journey in fastball when he attended the Junior Men’s Canadian Championship with the Quyon Flyers. In the following three years he joined the Quebec Junior program which resulted in three more appearances at the junior nationals before jumping to the senior circuit. From 2009-present he has played with several clubs at the ISC worlds as well as with Ontario and Quebec at the Senior Men’s Canadian Championships. In the off-season, he coached women’s basketball at Heritage College, was a member of the staff from 2009-2020 and served as the Head Coach for 10 seasons.
Student-Athlete accomplishments:
- 2003-2007 – Heritage College men’s basketball, RSEQ League Champions 2005
- 2012-2013 – All-Canadian Selection at the Senior Canadian National Championships
- 2012 – Won the ISC 2 World Championship with the Perry Island Hawks – Named to All World Team
- 2014 – Finished 2nd at ISC World Championship with the Kitchener Twins
- 2013-2016 – Member of the Canadian Men’s National Team selection pool
- 2019 – Represented Ontario at the Senior Canadian National Championships – Won Bronze
- Represented Softball Quebec at four Junior Canadian National Championships
- Represented Softball Quebec at six Senior Canadian National Championships
- Competed in eleven ISC Championships for the Quyon Flyers, Kingston Axemen, Niagara Stompers, Perry Island Hawks, Kitchener Twins and Stittsville 56ers

Matt has a wife, Leigh, and a son, Harrison.
