How to Apply to Ontario Colleges

Applications to Ontario Colleges

Students graduating from Grade 11 in Quebec High Schools are eligible to apply to Ontario Colleges. A Grade 12 OSSD is considered equivalent to a Grade 11 HS diploma.

Please see Guidance for assistance with determining the Quebec equivalents to the Ontario Science and Math pre-requisites.

For all Out of Province applications, Guidance must prepare and send transcripts.

  • MEES Achievement Record (Grade 10 Results)
  • 1st term Report Card

Guidance will need your OCAS number to send transcripts (EG: 23-1234 567). Therefore, you must apply online first before requesting transcripts.

1. Ontario Colleges deadline is 1-month sooner than CEGEPs being Feb. 1st for Equal Opportunity, but the site opens in October for applications and

2. **Do not wait until the day before, or even a few days before, to apply because you need to provide Ms. Brownlee with your OCAS number and you may be missing something in your application and you may not be able to get your documents in by the Feb. 1st deadline. (Guidance recommends no later than Mid-January to complete your applications.)

3. Applications are on-line at www.ontariocolleges.ca

4. Do not use your WQSB school email address as a contact email for any Post-Secondary applications since it is only meant to be used for inside of WQSB, anyone outside of the school board will not be able to contact you.

5. You will have to set up an account first with a username and password. You can then log on several times to check the “Status of your application” and complete the various sections of the application. The “STATUS” page will tell you if you are missing any documents. There is a toll free number for any questions or problems 1-888-892-2228.

6. Please notify Ms. Brownlee if you are having any difficulties with your application process.

7. Keep a record of your password, username, account number and your application number. You will be given an application number only when you submit your application. (Eg. OCAS #23-905-3663)

8. When you have completed your application and you have recorded your OCAS number, you must provide this application number to Ms. Brownlee to complete your transcript request.

9. Cost of Ontario Applications – $110.00 (payment available online via credit card) also due by Feb. 1.

10. You may select up to 5 programs, with no more than 3 from any one college (NOTE: Algonquin Woodroffe and Pembroke are considered 1 college.)

11. After submitting your application, you need to keep checking your e-mail for the STATUS of your application. VERY IMPORTANT! Every program is different and some require more documents than just transcripts. Pay close attention to every instruction you get. If you don’t understand something, ask me immediately, no appointment necessary.

12. Guidance will send a copy of your final transcripts in July to OCAS.

13. All offers of Admission are CONDITIONAL. You must maintain your grades and graduate to be formally accepted. Earliest release of offers from Ontario colleges begins November 1st.
